November marks the launch of a new campaign called Shop the Block organized by ReadyGo Media on behalf of Koko Monk Chocolates. Koko Monk Chocolates’ goal is to introduce people to new businesses and remind locals of old favorites while building a sense of community and supporting the local economy.
According to LOCO BC, for every $100 spent locally,
$45 is recirculated back into the local economy.
Visiting this area feels like being transported to another time and place. Yorkville, as many locals call it, features a number of alfresco street-side cafes amongst European style architecture and tree-lined streets. Yorkville spans the area of West 1st from Burard Street to about and including Cypress Street. It has a unique theme of beauty, health and creativity with several doctors’ offices and artisanal shops such as Rocky Mountain Flatbread and Krokodile Pear.
Joanne Probyn, founder and strategist of ReadyGo Media, is organizing the campaign on behalf of Koko Monk Chocolates and is pleased with the progress. “Interest in Shop the Block has already been outstanding,” says Joanne. “It’s creating excitement and building lasting relationships. This is a great format for any neighborhood. And it has the potential to grow while becoming more valuable to its community each year.”
